An Anthology of Royalty Free SoFoBoMo Ideas
It’s never too early to start thinking about this . . .
- My vacation to [blah] (SoFoBoMo as an excuse to take a vacation)
- Verticals in a horizontal frame
- Horizontals in a vertical frame
- Once in a Lifetime, in pictures (that’s a good one)
- Thirty-five chapters from A Pattern Language
- Six beers with your sweetie
- One week, walking
- Call me Ishmael. Go!
- A selection from The First 100 Chinese Characters
- Ten Blocks on the Camino Real or the street of your choice.
- Act out the color red, in black and white.
- Thirty-five objects that you come in contact with every day
- Fibonacci Sequence
- Tessellation
- The Periodic Table
- All hail Xylitol, our new galactic overlord.
- Tangent(the first thread was better, but I couldn’t find it)
- A progressive dinner
- Not in my yard
- You kids, get off my lawn!
- Alliteration: your letter is Q
- I don’t have to answer any of these questions
These are free to use for anyone, but I might just do that Talking Heads one myself, so if you do it, you’ll be that girl who wore the same dress as the birthday girl.

A couple from my little black book (yes, I write this stuff down) worth sharing:
- The unique thing about my town
- “Where we have been”: objects reclaimed by nature
- Spring (Summer?) in the city: nature in an urban environment
- A walk around the block
For me, SOFOBOMO is kinda less about what idea I choose and more about the process of setting limitations. Maybe you guys who did it last year might disagree, but I’m trying to allow something to surprise me with the process. I don’t want to get too specific, because then the thing I don’t see coming might be missed entirely.
Chris, that’s the idea I worked from last year. Pick a fairly open ended topic and see what comes out. Others engaged in much more rigorously project like topics. Either approach works.
Lots of good ideas to think about. Martin’s “A Walk around the block” is close to my way of thinking. I always seem to be looking close to home for things.
I’m going to have to give some serious thought to SOFOBOMO. It’s on my list. Now. Again.

Steve, glad it’s on your list, again. I’d like to see a walk around your block through your eyes. Think of it as an extension of your three prints prints project, if that helps.
